Negro was reserve champion at the KWPN Stallion Performance Test 1998. He subsequently won the championship for both 5- and 6-year-olds in Zwolle and became the best KWPN stallion at the World Championship for Young Horses as a 6-year-old. Negro won his debut in Grand Prix with 72,50% and in 2012 he was awarded pref in KWPN with a dressage index on 150 (92%). Pref is the highest award a horse can receive in KWPN. Negro was announced KWPN Stallion of the Year in 2013 and is placed 10th at the world ranking of best dressage sires, WBSFH.

Negro is a stallion with a grand talent for piaff and passage, which his offspring has even shown to inherit. His offspring are characterised by their good technique in the hingleds and great potential for doing changes, furhter to this they are cooperative and ambitious. Negro has a number of offspring that are competing in Grand Prix, of which the most famous is the son Valegro who won both a team gold medal at the European Championship 2011 and a gold medal at the Olympics 2012. Negro is also the sire of the famous stallion Netto, who impresses with his unique talent for piaff and passage and he is grandfather of the Dutch Stallion Performance Test Winner in 2012, Everdale.

Negro is by the well-known stallion Ferro who was in the Dutch National Team for a number of years. On the mothers side Negro has a grand pedigree with the stallions Variant and Gondolier as well as pref awarded mares in 3 generations, characterized by sport, model, strength, energy and quality. In total Negro has 9 horses in his pedigree that have been awarded with Pref, which is very unique.
